In February and March 2018 we held Drop In Sessions to get your initial comments on what you wanted to see in the St Austell Bay Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP).

In July we sent out nearly 900 questionnaires to all registered properties asking for your detailed views with the option of taking part in a prize draw. The closing date was 29th August 2018 and the first 6 names drawn at the Parish Council meeting on 13 September were lucky winners of £50.00 each. The cost of these prizes came from a grant funding application.

We were delighted with a 44% response rate and work is now well underway to analyse the information received and to identify the key policies of the plan. The editorial team has completed the first draft of the Questionnaire Analysis and the results can be viewed in the Consultation tab under Survey Result.

We have also had a very good response from Charlestown School and Penrice Academy with many pupils completing a simplified questionnaire. Their responses will be included in the Plan.

Thank you to all pupils who completed these questionnaires.

A business questionnaire was sent out in February 2019 with a closing date of 10 March 2019. Work will then start on analysing these results.

A Housing Needs Survey will be sent to all households within the next two weeks. This will be an on-line survey and aims to establish the need for housing and to help to ascertain what kind of housing, including affordable housing, local people need. Please take time to complete this important survey. It will remain open until 26th April 2019. If you require a paper copy please contact The Affordable Housing Team on 01872 326353.

Local Landscape

Thanks to Big Lottery Funding we have commissioned a report by a Local Landscape Character Architect. This report will be available in May 2019 and we need your comments on it.

A Landscape Character Assessment

  • identifies and describes variations in the character of the landscape;
  • explains unique combinations of elements and features that create a sense of place and local distinctiveness and;
  • provides factual descriptions of the landscape.

We need to know from you which parts of the landscape, natural and built features are important to you. What do you value about our area?

We will be arranging a further series of Drop in Sessions in May 2019 so you can see the work done, provide us with your local in-sight and tell us what makes this area special to you.

Further information on these events will be publicised shortly.
